Rachel from Cleveland, OhLove this song. However, when the electric guitar starts, you've got one of the greatest "hooks" in R&R history! I can't really think of it as a riff because almost anyone who plays the guitar can play it. Jim from Woodridge, IlI keep reading about the opening "guitar riff".Now the "'oo" is definitely my favorite band. This song is the whole reason I first picked up Ultimate Collection. ![]() I think I read somewhere the song actually mimics the sound of a pinball table, to some degree. Elton had a bunch of top 40 pop hits and this was one more cool song in the rotation. So that gave the song a personal feeling. Incredible.Įveryone knew all Elton John member band names. You just never heard anything like it 2-3 years earlier because music changed so drastically from ‘64 to ‘72. But Elton was huge glam pop that could groove and rock ! This was new music and it sounded incredible. I remember when it was on AM radio! It was fantastic- I think there was a shirt and long version.
